A holding of the Atriarians, it is the seventh planet of 21 in the Renn system, a gas giant around which the livable planet of Acarides orbits. It is a medium-sized gas giant, a remarkable array of green colors owing to large amounts of copper compounds suspended in the upper atmosphere. Even without rings, it is a spectacular image in the Acaridesian sky.
Among the rebellious "wild" males in the Atriarian underground, The Parmon of legend is not the consort of the demigoddess Acarides but is in reality the god who gave Tip'q'tas her three daughters. It was when he allowed each of his daughters to bear the children of mortal men that his wife cast him down and made him a servant in his own house, eventually relegating him to the service of his granddaughter, Acarides. Because he dared allow the blood of the gods to be polluted with that of mortals, he also earned the scorn of all females towards all males for all eternity, hence the Atriarian matriarchy. Most female Atriarians pretend that such heresy does not exist and will react violently to snuff out any suggestion of it if confronted with it.
Among the 16 moons of Parmon is one the size of a small planet with a deadly atmosphere of sulfur dioxide and pools of sulfuric acid dotting its surface. Robotic miners gather many elements from this moon for use in industrial applications. In some versions of the legend, when the ruined Parmon tried to force himself upon his granddaughter Acarides, she took a sword and cut off his manhood - though some translations say that she merely spilled his blood - and what she removed from him became Tempest, all that was evil and cowardly of Parmon. From then on he was the model of a subservient male to her.
